May this be an offering, not a performance. May it rise from truth, not fear. May I be guided not by outcome, but by integrity. May I release all grasping and pour only what is real. May this serve even one heart—and let that be enough. May I remember: I am not selling. I am devoting. May I be unattached to who comes, who buys, who claps. May this be a sacred act of remembering who I am.
Monday Feb 9, 2026
Wake up. I laid in bed for 45 minutes reading my phone and playing my farming game (yes, this is still happening, yes I’m embarrassed and also loving it), and then got up and freshened up for the day a bit.
Mattie is traveling all this week, so I’ll be solo parenting and he let me sleep in this morning. Wish me luck!
Downstairs, letting the dog out, cleaning up the kitchen and living room a bit (wow was it a disaster after the Super Bowl last night!), made an iced latte and sitting down at my desk in my actual office (not the couch) because somehow, even though I’m on Day 2 of my period this week, I feel like a real human being who is capable of sitting in a regular chair to work today, instead of my usual horizontal set up. It’s been killing my back, which is also motivating me to move.
Took care of some personal emails this morning, and moved the homeless kits I made with the kids to my car. I got this idea from my sister-in-law when we were in California last week, and basically they put together these kits with food, water, toiletries, etc. to hand out when they pass someone unhoused in the car. We frequently do, and the kids always say they wish they could do something. Bingo! We had so much fun making them and I know the kids are going to feel a sense of purpose when they’re able to help our neighbors.
I also spent some time yesterday donating to some causes I care about (particularly those affected by SNAP benefit cuts and ICE/immigration BS) and writing to Congress about some of these important issues, and though I’m just one person, it felt so good to feel like you are actually doing something after months of sitting here depressed and anxious about the state of the world. I only share that not to virtue signal, but to say, if you too have been feeling down about things, doing something, even if it’s small, really helps.
Okay, time to start work work for the day. I’m sending Rachel a Voxer message outlining my idea for the monthly live webinars I want to start running that will replace some plans we made for launches this quarter, and now I need to respond to a 1:1 client about her own launch and where I think she’s leaving A LOT of money on the table. Then I’m going to come back and do my morning start-up ritual, make my to do list and get clear on this week’s priorities.
Okay now that those messages are out of the way (they’ve been on my mind all weekend so I felt like I needed to get them out first), let’s see what’s up this week:
-
Look at ad data and start Ad Diaries
-
Edit video presentation for Soulful Sales Summit
-
Make updates to $1k/Day portal
-
Set up retargeting ads for $1k/Day
-
Give Jayce feedback on shop page
-
Make plan for monthly live webinar
-
Inbox Insights replies
-
Emails to write:
- Write the WSL
- Year of the bot bundle promo email
-
Calls this week:
- The Room
- 1:1 with Jen
- $1k/Day Office Hours
- 1:1 with Claire
- Mixermind Pod
- Weird Hermits Roundtable
I got totally sidetracked creating a workflow in Relay.app that will catalog all of the marketing emails I send to my list in a Google doc so I can easily upload it to AI tools for analysis, voice training, etc. That was fun! And also probably not the best use of my time, but hey, here we are!
Okay, that took a while. I cleaned out my inbox, updated some stuff in Skool, created some graphics in NotebookLM for our sponsor spotlights, added an automation to collect feedback in Airtable, did my profit first distributions, and now I have my marching orders for the week. Definitely two hours of multi-tasking and checking things off the list. Now I’m starving and ready for a break.
Sat outside in the sunshine with the pup to eat lunch and soak up some semi-warm weather. So ready for Spring!
Now still outside, but listening to a bunch of Voxes, including 30 min from 1 client who is having a major breakthrough about listening to herself, caring more about what SHE thinks than what other people think, ending people-pleasing and staying vanilla and going all in on who she is and what she believes. YES!
Back inside. Need to do some admin work, but first have to get my presentation sorted for the summit. Recording a loom as an SOP to show Rachel how I do this too in Descript.
Descript is moving at a snail’s pace and was giving me so many issues, ugh! I ended up doing some other stuff while I was waiting on this, like uploading all those emails I used Relay.app for earlier to ChatGPT and having it critique my strategy, giving Tara edits that I want to make to the MBA sales page, playing a little farming in a few minutes of downtime (gah, why am I so addicted to this stupid game?!) and checking in on my ads.
And now, I’m still waiting on Descript (it’s 3 pm) so I’m going to start updating the $1k/Day Portal.
Phew, everything there is done. I did take a quick 5 minute break somewhere in between all that to talk to my housekeeper about planting some tulips for me (been on my list for literally 2 months and finally asked her to do it and she was like THIS IS CRAZY I JUST MEDITATED ABOUT HOW I WANT TO SPEND MORE TIME GARDENING!... love when the universe delivers like that!), and to talk outside with her and show her where the hose was and the gardening tools.
I also got the portal fully updated now which I’m excited about. Going to take another break and then maybe move to the couch or outside to finish my workday. It flew by!
I don’t understand where time is going today. I swear I sat down outside, put my timer on for 10 minutes and suddenly it’s been 45.
I’m going to start working on my ad diary reports and get some tracking in place. Debriefed 2025 ads experiments and results first and now starting to look at 2026 and my plans. Feels SO GOOD to be working from the front porch again. Come on, spring!!
Alright kids are home, time to go get them dinner and hang for a bit before bedtime.
Ooops, let the kids stay up late (though Gem fell asleep on the couch) watching Alvin and the Chipmunks, which was surprisingly funny. I love seeing my kids laugh now that they understand the jokes and seeing their sense of humor is so cute. Bedtime was super easy since I basically just dropped them off in their rooms. #momoftheyear
Came downstairs and forced myself not to work because that’s usually my default when I get time alone at night. But nothing is urgent and I worked a full day today, so I decided to finally watch Heated Rivalry and OH.MY.GOD. 🍆🔥
It is very spicy, yet also really tender and sweet. I realized also that I think this show is so hot and popular with women right now because seeing these really beefy hunky man jocks be sensitive and emotional is such a turn on. I watched this Youtube thing afterward where the two main stars were talking about this and they were saying that straight women are so bored and frustrated by blocked straight dudes that this show is literally and figuratively like porn for them…okay, us.
Time for bed, going to try to get to sleep early since I gotta be up early with the kids tomorrow on my own. Makes me really grateful to be co-parenting with such an involved Dad, speaking of straight men. I did catch me a good one!
Tuesday Feb 10, 2026
Up and solo with the kids today so gotta get everyone dressed, fed and out the door in 30 minutes. Thankfully my kids are very chill in the morning. Jackson’s been up since 5 (he’s the biggest morning person) and has already fed himself, so he just gets dressed and takes his ADHD meds (thank God for those). Gem sleeps with us and is impossible to wake in the morning, so that part takes the longest. Once she’s up though, she doesn’t like to eat breakfast, so she’s mostly just brushing hair and teeth and getting distracted by playing with the dog and oh look what’s that thing over there and oh yeah what am I supposed to be doing? Living with 3 ADHD’ers has its challenges ;)
Back home and back to the bed. I couldn’t fall asleep last night until like 3 AM even though I got in bed at 10. I’m fully down the rabbit hole of watching one of my childhood besties (went to K thru college with Mike) win the Super Bowl (he’s head coach of the Seahawks, how cool is he?!) and now he’s on Jimmy Kimmel and I’m just Youtubing the crap out of everything that exists about him. How cute are he and his wife, Steph? I can’t stop watching this.
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy and so so proud of him for setting his eye on something and doing whatever it took to get there. Fan girl! Here we are in Chicago together back in 2017.

Okay fine, I’ll get up. Took a quick shower, put on real clothes and some makeup for calls today, came downstairs and made myself some scrambled cheese eggs and a Chai latte and have procrastinated on starting my day as long as I can….
Sitting down at my desk, ready to work! Catching up on this doc first.
Inbox Insights, let’s do this!
1:1 call with an MBA client.
Quick potty break and then finishing Inbox Insights.
The Room call.
Off the Room call, doing a quick thing in Relay.app for Inbox Insights and then need to take a lunch break. Still have a few more clients to respond to when I get back.
Okay lunch was a disaster. I pulled out a soup my mom had made and I froze last Fall and like a dumb dumb I just put the glass mason jar in some water in a pan and started heating it up on the stove. Of course it shattered. Like I knew it would. I mean, I even thought to myself, this is probably not the right way to heat this up but oh well. Anyway, that took some cleaning up and then a hot route for food, though I think I did actually salvage the soup and now just need to pray I don’t get internal bleeding from swallowing microscopic pieces of glass… it’s fine, right? It was a clean break! These are the kinds of decisions I make when I only sleep for 4 hours.
Okay… now, 4 more clients to go. Wow this is taking me all day. I’m glad I raised my prices here because this is a lot of work and thought responding this in depth to everyone every week.
Oof. Finally done. That was a lot. And now I’ve got to respond to a few client Voxer 1:1’s… I know Tuesdays are my client delivery days and that’s literally all I did today and I loved it AND my introverted, sleep-deprived heart is ready for a quiet day of deep, solo work tomorrow. Praise be for no call Wednesdays!
Speaking of, I actually reinstated no call weeks every other week on my calendar this week too. I’ve had way more calls than I’m used to lately and so now, other than The Room and my peer mastermind, I’m going to have 2 weeks a month with no other calls on my calendar and I’m so excited. I used to do this for years, then felt like it was fine, I didn’t need to actually block the time off and just this current season of life feels like, nope, definitely need to protect my energy there. Probably because I have a heavier 1:1 Partnership client load lately and so I’m spending more time people’ing than usual.
Plus, you know… there are virtual tomatoes to be harvested and those cows aren’t gonna milk themselves, ha!
Ack, gotta go get the kids from school.
Came home and played soccer outside with them for a while, it was a perfect night and is definitely starting to feel like Spring around here, which I’m very excited about.
The kids helped me make breakfast for dinner (TJ’s chocolate croissants which were insanely delicious with scrambled eggs) and then we played Mario Kart until it was time for bed.
Jackie went straight to sleep per usual and Gem wanted to read to me. Watching kids learn to read is the most amazing thing. Like, one day she was just sounding out letters and then BAM! She just read the entire book to me with minimal help and she’s only in kindergarten. It’s the coolest feeling watching your kids become people and one of my biggest hopes for them is that they find as much joy and peace in reading as I do.
Back downstairs, cleaning up a bit and then it’s time for some Heated Rivalry, yes sir!!
Oops, stayed up later than I expected, but crashed as soon as my head hit the pillow. Good night, y’all!
Wednesday Feb 11, 2026
“MOM, GET UP! WE’RE LATE!”. Well shit. I overslept, and Jackson was none too pleased about it. I hate rushing though, so I just decide to get ready at a normal pace and the kids will be okay if they’re 15 minutes late to school.
Ended up only being 8 minutes late somehow and very grateful we live less than a mile from their school.
Back home, talking to Mattie for a while about this crazy hit and run accident that happened in our neighborhood. And then just laughing at how funny Jackie was this morning about being late, demanding silence on the car ride because he was “not happy about it” and every time I would speak he would say, “Is that silence?” Meanwhile, Gem could not be bothered and was just chatting up a storm about how she wants to be a doctor and a teacher when she grows up. Ambitious girl, I love it!
Hung up with Mattie and then my brother called to talk about this hit and run situation because I know the victim and he knows the perp and somehow we’ve gotten ourselves mediating the situation a bit, which is probably evidence of overfunctioning and taking on responsibility that is not ours (wonder where we learned that?!).
And then my best friend who went to the Super Bowl called and we chatted about how absolutely insane the situation is. I was telling her that I feel like there’s a lesson in here for me and my clients (and everyone with a goal, really) about how you just have to decide what you want and then do it, no matter what.
Mike wasn’t a legacy, he didn’t have famous parents or any nepotism in football. He didn’t come from tons of money or have an “in” anywhere. He just knew he wanted to be a coach and he wanted to be the best and he worked so hard and sacrificed like hell to get there and now he just won the motherforking Super Bowl. I just feel so inspired by him.
When I was a journalist he used to text me things like, “Oh my god, I just opened yahoo.com and look whose byline is on the homepage, you’re so cool.” And I told him two years ago when he got the head coach job at Seattle that he thought I was cool for writing those articles but now the articles are being written ABOUT HIM. Wayyyy cooler!
Anyway, I’m not sure where I’m going with this, but I’m sure there’s an email about this coming soon lol.
I was born on 9/28 and I swear I never miss the clock when it hits this time twice a day. I always see it! It’s wild. And it’s also time for me to start doing some work. So I’ve got my Chai latte (this honey vanilla chai concentrate is THE BEST) and my pup and we’re snuggled up on the couch by the fire with my lap desk and ready to go.
Caught up in this doc first, sent DMs to everyone in Skool who responded to this post to get first dib access to our new freebie (a 12-step recovery program for social media!) and responded to some graphics Tara created for me in NotebookLM for our JV webinars and now ready to dive into the day, which is mostly a writing day, though I have a lot of ClickUp tasks I need to respond to contractors about so they can move forward. I hate knowing that people are waiting on me for stuff, it’s my least fave part of having a team. The managing of things and the reviewing, although I do prefer editing to creating some days or on certain tasks and I am so grateful to be able to hire out help to support me in the things I can’t/don’t want to do. It’s a trade-off.
Alright looking at what I need to write today:
- Write the WSL
- Year of the bot bundlepromo email
Let’s go!
Done with the WSL and now going to take Ferg for a walk and chat with my friend.
Back from my break, ready to keep writing.
Alright emails done. Along with some customGPT edits and a few NotebookLM graphics because I cannot be stopped! And I started a convo with Claude about another email idea I got for the WSL next week, while writing this one.
Now, it’s lunch break time. When I get back, I want to work on the following:
- Respond to CU review tasks
- Give Jayce feedback on shop page
- Set up retargeting ads for $1k/Day
- Make plan for monthly live webinar
Alright back from my break and taking another peek at an AI agent workflow I’ve been trying to set up to schedule posts in Skool (one of my only complaints about the community is that everything has to be posted live in real time), but I can’t get it to work without buying a browser automation agent thingy… probably not worth spending too much time on this right now with everything else I need to do.
Telegram office hours. Only a few quick questions so far today.
Answered all the Telegram office hours questions submitted so far. Now using AI to help me find anyone who is no longer a paying member and remove them from the Telegram channel. I haven’t figured out how to automate this part yet.
Alright time to respond to some CU reviews.
First, I’m updating all the bump offer copy for our new funnels now that Jayce set up all the tech backend. Here’s a quick AI hack for how I’m doing this:
Streamlining Bump Offer Updates with DIA Browser 🚀 - Watch Video

Ack, got interrupted because my neighbor in the hit and run showed up with some news and wanted to chat. Of course, then I called my brother afterward and we’re both just laughing about like dang, how’d we get involved in this? We feel like the bloodhound gang getting vigilante justice.
Okay I’ve got an hour before I have to pick up the kids and take them to OT. Gotta get some stuff finished. Back to the bump offers.
Done! That still ended up taking me a while but I can only imagine how much longer it would’ve been without AI helping me. Time to go get the kids!
Alright, Gem and I are downstairs in the restaurant space eating nachos, she’s on the iPad and I’m going to try to get a bit more work done while Jackson is at OT.
Mostly worked on edits for the new AA freebie I’m launching this month. Cannot WAIT for this!
One margarita down, too many nachos and time to get back upstairs and get the boy. We’re making our valentine’s cards tonight when we get home and his OT has already suggested this grouchy man needs an epsom salt bath, so it’s going to be a full night. First up: McDonald’s for the kids. Le sigh!
Kids are asleep and I am DEAD! Oh my gosh, so tired. I’m going to watch the finale of Heated Rivalry and then go to bed. Hopefully I can wake up early tomorrow, like 6 am, and get a head start on things.
Thursday Feb 12, 2026
Alarm goes off… ugh, there’s no way. Even though I was asleep by 10 last night, I am way too warm and cozy in this bed to get up. Snooze.
Snooze.
My regular alarm goes off. So much for getting up early. Snooze.
Okay fine, I’m up. Get the kids dressed, make sure they’ve got their Valentine’s we made last night, let the dog out, everyone is out the door on time today. Whoop!
Back home, making my Chai latte, taking my meds, and straight to the couch by the fire with the pup. If you ever try to imagine what my work day looks like, 9/10 it’s this:

Alright, I still need to get a few things back to the team in ClickUp so I’m going to start there. I’ve got 3 calls today and my work day is getting cut short as I’ve got to take Gem and her friend to dance class at 3:45. Thankfully Mattie gets home this afternoon!
I’m starting with working on the AA guide and landing page copy.
Taking a break to chat with my housekeeper about trauma, EMDR and therapy because that’s just how I roll… haha. This did make me laugh after 30 minutes had gone by and I was like, who else gets into conversations like this, talking about sexual assault and child abuse, with the person who cleans their house? Me! Go deep or go home lol.
Gotta get ready for my call with Claire, who is a new friend from the Mixermind that I’m excited to do some collabs with this year!
Call with Claire, and omg such good insights. Two things in particular I want to highlight:
- Strategy vs. tactics: The first theme was the difference between strategy and tactics. Strategy is the big-picture, “what am I actually trying to achieve in my business?” For example: build an audience, grow my email list, nurture trust, make consistent sales. Tactics are just the different ways you execute on that strategy: summits, bundles, SEO, email, ads, collaborations, podcast interviews, etc. What we kept coming back to is that most people are obsessed with tactics (“Should I do this summit / that bundle / Reels / TikTok / ads?”), but they’ve never really clarified their strategy. When your strategy is clear, almost any tactic can work; you choose the ones that fit your values, your capacity, your brain, and your stage of business. This is also why you don’t need the “one right” playbook from a guru. You need a simple, grounded strategy and then the permission to adapt tactics to how you actually function.
- Social media attention selling vs. selling actual products: The second theme was untangling the business model of social media influencers from the business model of coaches, course creators, and digital product sellers. Social media platforms reward and pay people for attention. Influencers get paid simply because people watch their content; “success” on social is measured in followers, views, likes, and brand deals. Most of us, however, are not in the business of selling attention. We are trying to sell actual products, programs, and services. That means email list growth, nurturing relationships, and making offers matter way more than raw visibility metrics. The problem is that many entrepreneurs are trying to run a coaching or course business using an influencer model. They assume social media is mandatory, instead of seeing it as just one possible visibility tactic among many others (like SEO, bundles, summits, ads, collaborations, etc.). Once you separate those two business models, it becomes much easier to opt out of social—or radically de-prioritize it—without feeling like you’re breaking some unspoken rule of online business.
Alright, I’m almost done with the AA edits and have a few more things to get to in ClickUp after that, namely feedback on our new shop page. But first I need to prep for the Mixermind pod call today as I’m the pod leader.
Took a 10 minute lunch break within this time too. Literally made a baloney sandwich like I’m 5. So good!
Alright, everything above done except I need to give Jayce shop page loom. Of course I’m getting distracted making amazing graphics and videos in NotebookLM. Why is it so much fun? I just can’t get over how good they are! Time for my first hosted pod call.
Mixermind pod call.
Weird Hermits Roundtable.
Whew, I need a break. That was a lot of people’ing and mama is tired and hungry. Thankfully Matt got home in time to take the girls to dance so I could stay home.
Okay, back. Responding to a few clients on Voxer. Reinforcing some boundaries, which is very timely after the roundtable where we spent most of the time talking about how boundaries support us and prevent burnout. The Universe is like, oh really? Here you go! Try this one.
Finally recording the loom for Jayce. Whew! Just lots of changes and backend stuff happening in the shop that I need her help to implement. Grateful I don’t have to be the one to do it ;)
Kids are home. Time to call it for the day. I’m traveling all next week again so I will likely work for a couple hours tomorrow to make up for some time off, but we’ll see how I feel.
Mattie took them outside to play soccer and I did a few things around the house, then we all colored together for an hour and read the new Pug Diary book Gem brought home. Bed time and then I just vegged on the couch with my phone for a few hours, mostly watching old videos of our pets because our kitty Boo has lost so much weight lately and she was curled up on my lap feeling like a little skeleton and it made me so sad.
She’s 15 and has hyperthyroidism which causes weight loss and we’re working with her vet, but she’s down to 5 lbs now and I hate it. Wound up finding tons of home movies of Jackson as a baby playing with our old dog Finch, which also made me so nostalgic and sentimental. They were so cute and sweet and mostly now I’m just gushing about how much I love animals and how much joy they’ve brought our family. Why can’t they all just be immortal?
On that note, it’s 10 pm and time for bed so off I go. Want to finish my new thriller book and then start reading 10x is easier than 2x because it’s come up like 8 times in the last 2 months, so I think it’s my sign.
Friday Feb 13, 2026
Mattie let me sleep in a bit but I gotta get up now because I’m the mystery reader for Gemma’s class at 8:30.
Mystery reader. OMG those kids are so cute. I was kinda dreading this, mostly because it was early and I was feeling like staying in bed longer, but so glad I made it. They’re so excited to have a parent in the room and seriously nobody is sweeter than kindergarteners. They’re all so affectionate too, which is so funny to me since I’m a stranger to most of them. Everyone wanted to give hugs and high fives and they were all saying the words with me to Grumpy Monkey, which apparently I’m not the only one who loves that book.
Back home already, that was fast! Going to do some journaling… you know the drill, by the fire on the couch with the Ferg.
Time to go get Botox. It’s been over a year and mama needs a boost. Chatted with my friend on the way there. And with Rachel on the way home about some stuff that came up while I was journaling and some changes I want to make. More on that below.
Got home, reheated a leftover cheeseburger from a few nights ago (if I could wave a magic wand and have a personal chef make me delicious, nourishing lunches, that would be my #1 dream) and now I’m headed to sit outside in the yard with Fergus (my porch is too shady and cold but in the sunshine, it’s perfection) and journal a bit more. I’m feeling very reflective today.
Revenue Earned:
Revenue Debrief
Ok so this week, in total for 7 days, we brought in
- $7990 revenue = $1141/day
- From 77 sales
- For an AOV of $103.77
I’m going for $1k/Day in profit this year, which means my revenue needs to be right around $1800/day. So… I’m not quite at my goal yet.
That’s okay, I set this goal 45 days ago and I know it’s going to take some time to hit. I am moving in the right direction. This time last year, my average daily income was $580/day so I’ve effectively doubled it. Keeping my eye on the prize!
End of Week Reflection, Decisions + Takeaways
I did my usual journaling with Mildred (ChatGPT) about my time tracking this week, asked a ton of questions, got a lot of data analysis and observations, went back and forth with questions to better understand myself, my blind spots, areas for improvement, and I wanted to share some of it here with y’all because I think it really highlights how I make decisions from a calm, grounded place.
Here’s what surfaced.
1. Seasonal Energy > Forcing Growth
The biggest realization wasn’t tactical. It was seasonal.
I’m in winter energy right now.
For me, winter looks like:
- Slow starts in the morning
- Lower physical output
- More desire for containment and backend work
- Less appetite for launching and outward expansion
Instead of judging that or trying to override it with a big February push, which I originally had planned, I’m choosing to align the business with my current capacity and energy.
So February shifts from: Launch + revenue generation mode
To: Backend systems, infrastructure tightening, delegation refinement.
I fully trust that as Spring begins to emerge, so will my energy and desire to do more forward facing work. For now, I am embracing hibernation.
2. My Job Is Architect, Not Executor
One of the sharper insights this week hit around my standards.
My standard for client experience is high, which is a strength.
But I caught something subtle: If I see something that could be improved (a portal tweak, email refinement, formatting adjustment), I instinctively think, “I’ll just fix it”, even if it only takes 15 minutes.
The realization: My job is to define excellence. Not personally execute it.
Going forward, the rule is:
If something needs updating, I record a quick Loom and assign it to Rachel, Tara or Jayce.
I keep the strategic call, but I do not click the buttons.
That’s how I can better protect margin and energy.
3. Delivery % Is Too High for a $500K Model
When I zoomed out at where my time is actually going, I noticed my delivery percentage is creeping higher than it needs to be (like over 40% of my time).
Inbox Insights. Voxer coaching. The Room. Telegram office hours.
Individually, none of it feels overwhelming. Collectively, it adds up.
For the business I want — small team, high profit margin, no empire building — my role cannot be 40% delivery long term.
So here’s the shift:
- Reinstating Rachel as co-lead on Inbox Insights (we’ll alternate weeks).
- Structuring Voxer as daily office hours (2–3pm EST), not ambient unlimited access with Rachel and I alternating delivery days
- Compressing depth into containers instead of letting it bleed across the day.
- Raising prices on Inbox Insights where I’m currently underpaid
This is how my clients get a) more of us and b) less overwhelmed because there is a clear structure in how we support them.
Predictability > constant availability.
4. Transition Friction Is Real (and Designable)
Another big aha: I’m a slow ignition system. Once I start working, I’m all in. But I resist activation (hence my slow mornings).
Instead of shaming that, I’m designing around it.
- I didn’t do any of my usual morning rituals (strength/mobility/stretch, meditate, read) this week and I miss it. AND my winter energy (and maybe my POTS energy conservation) is resisting a lot of movement right now.
- So, moving forward, I’m going to forget my usual 2 hours of morning rituals, and shrink them to 3–5 minute starts. My idealized version is too much, but I can do anything for 5 minutes.
- I also want to add a low-input, evening transition into my schedule moving forward. So around 5:15pm, I’m going to start a 10-minute downshift before kid re-entry. Dark room/outside, noise cancelling headphones, no screens, no to low input. My nervous system, which is already operating at a high activation at all times due to my chronic health issues and my desire to be 110% in relationally with those in my life, needs to reduce stimulation for even just a few minutes a day.
I don’t need more discipline, I think I just need lower activation energy, which is a completely different problem to solve. Learning this about myself felt shockingly profound.
As did thinking more about rest. I am amazing at physical rest! But physical rest and mental rest are not the same thing. Someone can lie down for hours, sleep well, and still feel mentally overstimulated. Cognitive rest means giving the brain a break from processing input — screens, stories, decisions, entertainment, even harmless distractions.
A cognitive rest deficit happens when the mind rarely experiences low-input states — quiet, boredom, stillness, no task, no feed, no goal. It can feel uncomfortable at first because stimulation has become the default. A farming game, for example, may feel restful because it narrows focus to one simple objective. But it’s still input. True cognitive rest is when the brain isn’t solving, consuming, or reacting — it’s just settling. That kind of rest restores a different layer of energy.
I think my life is missing that true cognitive rest and I’m curious what will happen if I decide to give myself the gift of it. Let’s find out!
5. Protecting the Foundation > Chasing the Ceiling
It would be very easy for me to chase another revenue spike. But if I’m honest, that’s not the priority this month.
The priority is:
- Strengthening systems
- Reducing cognitive load
- Delegating execution
- Preserving physical energy
- Tightening operations
Because a calm $35K month with margin and space is more aligned than a chaotic $60K month.
This is the part people don’t see when they look at revenue. The decision-making underneath matters more than the number.
Final Takeaway: What this means for you
If you take anything from this reflection, let it be this:
You don’t need more hustle. You need more alignment.
Most people make business decisions from:
- Panic about revenue
- Comparison to someone else’s season
- Guilt about not doing enough
- Pressure to “scale”
I don’t. And you don’t have to either.
Before you decide what to do next, ask:
- What season am I actually in?
- What does my energy realistically support right now?
- Where am I over-functioning out of habit instead of necessity?
- Am I architecting… or micromanaging?
Sometimes the most profitable move isn’t expansion, but refinement.
Sometimes the most mature move isn’t adding, but delegating.
Sometimes the smartest move isn’t pushing revenue, but protecting margin and capacity so you can build long-term.
And sometimes the growth edge isn’t working harder, but shrinking the activation energy so you can start.
This week reminded me that calm businesses are built by calm decisions.
So, if you feel like you’re in a winter season — honor it.
Strengthen your systems. Clean up your backend. Delegate execution. Lower your friction.
Spring always comes.
You don’t have to force it.
