7 am: Wake up, get the kids ready for school and drop them off. My friend called me on the way home to tell me about this Family Constellation workshop she did this weekend, which sounded incredible.
-
8:15 am: Back in bed to read for a bit. It’s rainy here today and this introvert is wiped out after having my mastermind in town last week and a busy weekend with Christmas shopping, decorating, planning, etc. and Supper Club with two of my best friends from high school and their families yesterday. I’m reading this book and it’s SO good.
-
10 am: Ended up falling back to sleep for a bit, but need to get up and moving for the day. Made some coffee and sausage/egg muffin from Rudi’s and decorated a bit for Christmas. Listening to Shaboozey who I’m newly obsessed with. Saw him perform at SNL last night and Good News is now on repeat.
-
11:15 am: Remember that this week is BTS week, so sat down to create this doc and start work for the day. I’ve got a few hours before I have to leave for some errands. Plan:
- Morning start-up ritual (see hereif you’ve missed previous explanation)
- Fill out mastermind survey + intro
- Call vet to refill Scout’s prescription (my 14-year-old cat has hyperthyroidism)
- Need to leave by 12:45 to make it to Target and my 2:15 microneedling appointment. Dreading it because it hurt SO bad last time.
-
11:23 am: Starting morning ritual.
- 11:39 am: Customer service. I’ve been trying out a few new AI tools and right now Ellie AIand Richpanel are winning but I do miss being able to access customer’s data directly in Kartra. I’m also now officially a 1-woman show, so I have to make sure I get through everything before I head out for the day.
-
12:11 pm: Customer service done, whoop! Going to go get ready for the day and grab a quick bite to eat before I head out.
-
12:23 pm: Ehhh change of plans. I don’t feel like running errands in the rain. I’m just going to work until my appointment.
-
12:24 pm: Paying Rachel’s last invoice 🙁
-
12:26 pm: Moving to the couch to work. I’m feeling like such a slug today and my December laziness has officially hit. I never feel like working much in December and just want to be festive and/or lounge on the couch by the Christmas tree (or both!). Thankfully, I’ve noticed this pattern that sets in every year like clockwork and planned accordingly. I have no launches or anything planned until the very end of the month, we’re skipping Get it Done Week this month (and I’m making some changes**) and while my income might take a hit, I’m totally okay with that because I honestly just don’t feel like working that much. Looking at my very empty calendar for the next 2 weeks is making me very happy. Silent nights and WHITE SPACE!
- Doing anything but what I need to be doing. I’m currently trying to set up a Zap/Airtable automation to automate my KKCredit process a bit more for Kartra affiliate bonuses…got some of it figured out but can’t get Partnerstack to connect to Zapier because I can’t find my API key.
-
1:45 pm: Off to RF Microneedling. Popped an Advil before I left, wishing I had something stronger. This is my third, and hopefully, final time. Fingers crossed baby smooth skin is in my future.
-
3:38 pm: Back at my perch on the couch to work for a couple hours before the kids get home. Face is numb and tingling, chicken and rice soup in my mug, another cup of decaf in my other mug. Fire on. Kitty curled up. Life is good.

-
3:54 pm: Just wrote more below on my idea for the future of Get it Done Week. Now checking ClickUp to see what else HAS to get done today. Got my above checklist completed already.
-
4:04 pm: Just answered a few more helpdesk questions. Now filling out a testimonial for my friend Ruth, whose summit I sponsored this summer.
-
4:17 pm: Write promo email for the Doer to Your Dreamer Mini Bundle
-
5:06 pm: Sending our last WSL sponsor some stats–96 clicks sent her way, I hope she got some tripwire sales!
-
5:15 pm: Posting a couple messages in my mastermind about collabs and planning out some bonuses for my EOY MBA sale.
-
5:31 pm: Done for the day. Kids should be home soon and I’m ready to shut my laptop and just veg…because you know this working from the couch is no cake walk ;)
- Made dinner for the kids (chicken nuggets and mac and cheese) and the adults (yuzu miso salmon with roasted broccoli, jasmine rice and fish sauce cucumber salad).
- Did day 9 of our Christmas advent puzzle with the kids.
-
7:45 pm: Kids are asleep (last night was Mattie’s turn to do bedtime) and I found “It Ends With Us” on Netflix and since Mattie had to work, I could watch without guilt!
-
10 pm: Upstairs to bed. Reading this until I fall asleep.
Oof, that was rough. We almost lost our streak, but thankfully made 1 sale yesterday, which made 166 days of at least 1 sale every day. My average revenue over those 166 days is now $533.42.

6:48 am: Woken up by Jackson letting me know Guido (what he named our Elf on the Shelf when he was 2) didn’t move last night. Oops, we forgot! We don’t do anything elaborate or clever with the Elf, he just moves around the house every night and even though I have an alarm set to remind me to move him, Gem was downstairs a million times last night so we were waiting to move him until she was fully asleep and then just forgot. Told the kids it was raining so he was waiting for it to stop. Try really hard not to make our Elf threatening or shameful (no naughty or nice list here), just here to spread holiday cheer. Dr Becky from Good Inside helped me with this, and I’d say 98% of the time, we don’t say things like “What would Guido think if he saw this behavior” or “Santa’s watching”...but listen man, parenting is hard and sometimes those things just slip out.
- get the kids ready for school and drop them off.
- Listening to Shaboozey on repeat still. Really want to hate this songbecause it’s so poppy and stupid lyrics, but it’s so dang catchy.
-
7:45 am: Cleaning up around the house. Needed to finish some laundry, wash some new sheets, put some clutter away, etc. Took a quick shower and got dressed for the day.
- Really missing working out, but my fatigue is so strong right now that I’m just listening to my body and moving as gently as I can. This is just a season, I won’t always feel this way. That’s what I’m telling myself anyway.
-
8:30 am: Sitting down at my desk. Updating this doc from where I left off last night. Texting with my friend a bit too.
-
8:41 am: Starting my morning start-up ritual. Mattie was craving chick-fil-a, so he just brought me a biscuit. The meds I’m on are really messing with my appetite, so I’m nibbling on it.
-
9:05 am: Finished responding to all emails and other AM tasks. Trying to figure out what I feel like doing on my list right now… not much, ha! Here’s what’s on deck today:
- Email about BTS Week in the Life being live
- Respond toInbox Insights clients
- Write BTS Income Report for November
- Update tech stack videos from replays
- Host The Room/Launch Lab call + upload the replay after
- 1:1 Call with a client
- Mastermind call with my group
- Check into FB group for Mixermind and intro post
-
9:18 am: Alright, going to get up, make a cup of tea and pomodoro this shit out because it’s the only way when you’re feeling totally unmotivated. Normally I do longer spurts but I think I’m going to follow my friend Sage’s advice and just do 15 minutes on, 5 minutes off or something quick and easy.
-
9:24 am: LET’S GO! Email about BTS Week in the Life being live
-
9:49 am: Email done. Time for a short break!
-
10:06 am: Back from break. Time for Inbox Insights. One down now time for a break (it’s 10:23). 10:31 back from break, continuing II.
-
10:58 am: Done with emails. Taking a longer break now.. Maybe a cat nap even. Oy this fatigue is so strong.
-
12:30 pm: Woke up from my nap after reading for a bit. Quickly threw on a little makeup to host the live call. Making a fresh cup of decaf with eggnog as creamer.
-
12:44 pm: Pulling up questions for the call. This is the first one I’ve hosted by myself in YEARS. I miss Rachel.
-
1 pm: And we’re live!
-
2:08 pm: Just uploaded the replays to the portal and now heading for a lunch break. Chipotle delivered! Take a break with Mattie and we watched TV and ate together. Didn’t talk much but it just makes a difference to be near him, I always feel better.
-
3:00 pm: 1:1 Call with one of my longest-term clients.
-
3:39 pm: Uploaded her replay to her client folder. Moving to the couch before my mastermind call at 4.
-
3:45 pm: Answering help desk tickets before the call. Don’t really want to start anything major since I only have 15 minutes.
-
5:37 pm: Just got off my mastermind call. Going to go be with my kids for a few hours.
- Breakfast for dinner for the kiddos and I just kinda scrounged. Matt finished his Chipotle. I am just not up for cooking these days. It’s a season, but man I’m just so wiped.
- Did the advent puzzle with the kids and played some games. Unboxed a few more Christmas decorations that arrived and then it was my turn to do bedtime. We read a bunch of “where’s Waldo” type books where you find hidden things in busy pictures. So cute and fun!
-
8:15 pm: Kids are down, Mattie and I watched some random Late Night clips while I played on my phone, and then went to bed by 10.
-
$12.07: 7-Day Aligned Business Blueprint
-
$20.47: Blog Optimization Roadmap

-
9:30 am: Wake up. I asked Mattie to switch with me this morning for drop off because I’ve been so tired and just wanted to sleep in. Got about 11 straight hours. Then caught up on email newsletters from people I love to read (Laura Belgray and Tarzan Kay top the list) via my Faves Roll-Up (one of the best ways I keep my inbox clean, organized and manageable).
-
10:35 am: Finally get out of bed, get dressed and come downstairs to make some coffee and breakfast.
-
10:41 am: Sitting down at my desk. Updating this doc. But I had a scheduled call with my friend at 10:45 and now she’s calling so…
-
11:02 am: Okay back. Finishing this doc then finally starting work for the day.
-
11:05 am: Morning start-up ritual. Have a COMPLETELY empty calendar today, tomorrow and Friday and I’m so excited.
-
11:49 am: Done with that, and all customer service tickets responded to. I’m really enjoying Richpanel, but wish I could train the AI piece more…apparently that’s coming, but it doesn’t compare to EllieAI right now. But it does integrate with Shopify and offers other email features that Ellie doesn’t. I can’t decide if I prefer to be in gmail or in Richpanel’s workspace. Either way, I’m so grateful these solutions even exist and they’re saving me so much time and helping me deliver a much higher level of customer service!
-
11:51 am: Okay looking at my to do list for today:
- Catch up on outstanding Voxers (I have several that really need my attention)
- Write BTS Income Report for November
- Write WSL
- Start new email series to promote The Room and write first email
- Update tech stack videos from replays
- Check into FB group for Mixermind and intro post
- Go to the grocery store
- Go to Target and do returns
- Pick up Scout’s meds at the vet
-
I’m going to need to Pomodoro this out again because my brain is just having such a hard time getting motivated and focused. This sucks. I really hate feeling this way because I do truly love my work and am excited about what’s on my plate, I just have ZERO energy to do much of anything. I’m going to take a short break and come back in 5 minutes to start writing.
-
12:05 pm: Alright let’s do this. Starting with the WSL. 25 minutes on, 5 minutes off.
-
1:08 pm: Well, once I got started, I was on a roll so I just kept going (this is usually what happens to me when I pomodoro). So now WSL is done and I’m going to take a 15 minute break. Think I’ll walk up to the vet to get my cat’s meds. Maybe some fresh air will give me a burst of energy!
-
1:54 pm: Had a nice walk, talked to my mama and planned out some Christmas menus since we’re hosting everyone at our house again this year and ate some leftover Chipotle. Ready to write the next email. Let’s go pomodoro! Simultaneously chatting with Kartra support while I do this as I’d like to create a new footer design for my site and am having some trouble.
-
2:42 pm: Finished writing the email to promote The Room. I’m going to start sending these out once per week, highlighting some of the takeaways, aha moments and common themes that are coming up on the calls and why people should join. I created a custom GPT to help me write these where I upload transcripts and info about The Room to help me write them and pull out key quotes and conversations, which makes my job so much easier. I also use FathomAI to record and can chat with their robot about key takeaways and get ideas for how to turn the call into an email which is so helpful! Taking a quick break to just re-evaluate my to do list and the rest of my day.
-
2:53 pm: Going to order groceries for Kroger pickup and save myself some time today. I’ll go to Target tomorrow or Friday, hopefully my face will be better healed by then anyway. It’s a little embarrassing to be in public right now.
-
3:20 pm: Okay groceries ordered but dang, what are y’all feeding your kids lately? Mine are getting so picky and I feel like all they eat is typical kid food. I hate it. I used to just be able to give them whatever I was making but it seems that ship has sailed. Along with the ship where I was cooking regularly. Sigh!
- Alright I’m going to now write the BTS Income Report for November.
-
5:18 pm: Done with the Income report, published and now have to go pick up the kids.
- Came home and cooked spaghetti bolognese for dinner while the kids watched Paw Patrol.
-
6:43 pm: Kids are upstairs taking a bath, so I’m going to use this time to close out the helpdesk. It’s not urgent, but I’d prefer to start tomorrow morning with a clean slate.
-
6:57 pm: Alright, got through what I could for now. ChatGPT is down so I’ll wait on a few until tomorrow. I love using AI with a human touch. Kids are back downstairs and Jackson wants to race me in MarioKart. Bring it on little man!
-
7:45 pm: I’m going to start working on my annual video montage I make every year for our family using the 1SecondEveryday app. One of my favorite traditions! Once Mattie finished bedtime, I kept doing this and we just watched King of Queens. I feel like I’ve been watching this series for months now, which is true since I started it from Episode 1. It’s such a good, mindless show that always makes me laugh. But I swear I don’t only watch this show, ha!
-
11 pm: Up to bed later than usual because I got into the family video and wanted to get as far as I could. I normally do this in real time each month, but I fell out of the habit so I started in Jan 2024 and got through July. I kept joking with Mattie that this year has been so boring. Normally we have a lot more travel and group activities and just looks like we had a lot more fun. This year, especially the first half, we didn’t do a whole lot outside of the house. Plus the kids are getting older so we’re not documenting their every move the way we used to. Some years, the video has been an hour long. I think this year will be 15 minutes. But it’s still so fun to see the kids grow up and remind myself what an amazing, beautiful life we have (even if it is at home). Making these always makes me feel like the luckiest woman in the world!
Total Revenue:
- $25.90, Messaging Made Easy
- $27, 3 sales of Launch Lab
- $0, free trial of The Room for MBA client

-
6:50 am: Woke up easily this morning (win!!!), got the kids ready for school and did drop off. Was hoping my grocery pickup was going to be ready but alas it wasn’t so I came straight home and made a cup of coffee, turned on the fireplace and Christmas tree, and snuggled up on the couch with my laptop.
-
7:55 am: Starting work earlier than usual today because a) I actually feel like my brain has some energy and b) I’m thinking about running errands later this afternoon and meeting a friend for lunch so I want to make sure I can get what I need to done. Also starting to feel the pinch of next week being my last of the year in the office and wanting to make the most of the time I’ve got left. Fortunately, I don’t have a ton of Important, Urgent tasks, but lots of ideas and things I’d like to start working on.
-
8:08 am: Finished updating this doc from last night, now time for morning start up ritual. Listening to “Discover Weekly” on Spotify.
-
8:51 am: Finished the ritual and responded to all outstanding helpdesk tickets and Slack messages too. So looking at my to do list for today:
- Respond to a few outstanding emails in my personal work inbox
- HobbyScool Summit presentation
- Submit to Lizzy’s GIDW
- Send email to my affiliates
- Update nurture sequences
- Turn GIDW Nurture into Shopify product
- Catch up on outstanding Voxers (I have several that really need my attention)
- Update tech stack videos from replays
- Check into FB group for Mixermind and intro post
- Go to Target and do returns
- Pick up groceries and prescription
-
Oof, that’s a lot. Not everything HAS TO get done today. So I tried to put this in order or importance and when I’m starting at a big long list, instead of getting overwhelmed and freezing, I really try to just isolate one thing at a time. It’s the only way. So starting with my inbox, I’m just going to go in and answer everything urgent. I can leave some other things for later. It’s 9:07, so I’m starting that now.
-
9:17 am: Alright done with the emails. Going to help Mattie load up a big box to return into our car and get some breakfast, then sit back down to work.
-
10:14 am: Ok moved to my office so I can sit upright and work on my summit presentation. The title is “5 Quick Cash Injections To Make Money TODAY, Even If You're Starting From Scratch”.
-
11:45 am: Wahoo! Finished the presentation, exporting it from Descript now. I love this software, it makes editing videos from transcripts so easy. Which is what I did for this one. I combined a couple of previous trainings and edited them to be a 30-minute presentation for the summit. So much easier than recording something brand new. And I just recorded a new intro and outro so it made sense. Going to take a short break and come back and upload it the portal for the summit.
-
12:00 pm: Uploading the summit, while I watch the edited version at 2x speed to make sure it makes sense. Also making sure that I have the coupon codes and email sequences in place for summit attendees.
-
12:21 pm: I think I want lunch… be back in a bit. Watched my friend Jules’ latest Youtube videos while I ate. She has the most calming presence and always makes the most mundane things looks so beautiful and worthwhile.
-
12:50 pm: Checking my Kartra affiliate credit and realizing that the Zap I created is duplicating people in my Airtable KKCredit base so I need to quickly troubleshoot that.
-
1:20 pm: Ok ugh, that took way longer than expected. Is anyone else having issues with Zapier displaying weird in Google Chrome? Add it to my list of gripes.
- Alright now I’m going to quickly Submit to Lizzy’s GIDW. I am a member of hersilver moon sales program and this GIDW is for something I already did (evergreen email sequence), but I’m going to submit anyway because I want to get promoted to her list.
-
1:25 pm: Plowing right along in my to do list, it feels really really good. My lunch got cancelled (JOMO!) so I’ve got the full day to just knock shit out. Now I need to send an email to my affiliates to get them to promote something… I don’t have anything in particular, except to let them know about my EOY MBA sale, but I’d like to offer them something specific… thinking…thinking… I do want to host more JV Webinars in 2025, so I think I’ll do that. An invitation to co-host one with me.
-
1:48 pm: Email written and sent. Going to personally forward it to a couple of my friends to set something up personally as I find it helps to have the formal doc with the details, but a personalized outreach.
-
1:58 pm: Alright that’s done, what’s next? Update nurture sequences. Okay, so this is going to be a bit of an experiment. I’m going to put the details of this down in the “Things I’m Pondering Section” because it’s long. So now I’m going to play around in Klaviyo and look at moving my Fri-Yay sequence there. I’m going to give myself an hour to do this and then move onto the next thing because it’s not going to get 100% complete today. But I can get started. Some notes
- I can create dynamic custom coupon codes
- They don’t have a built-in timer, so I’d have to pay for one or use Countdown Mail branded
- I can give customized product recommendations in the email based one what users have purchased, viewed, etc.
-
4:02 pm: Whoops. I was having too much fun with this. I ended up giving myself 2 hours to play. I need to get up and move my body. Going to take a quick walk around the block.
-
4:36 pm: Back at my desk. Caught up on Voxers while I walked. Was so excited to hear that my client Erin doubled her email list with the sponsor spotlight ad she ran with me last week! YES! I’m going to edit the tech stack videos now as I realized last week those never got uploaded correctly into the course portal. Ended up deciding not to edit the video, but just upload it and add some timestamped notes to help people better navigate it.
-
5:12 pm: That’s done! And I was able to close out the helpdesk too while the video uploaded. Multi-tasking win! And Mattie is picking up the groceries, so that’s off my list now too. So that was quite a day overall. Wow, I’m kinda amazed at what I got done, considering my energy levels this week. One thing at a time really works. Don’t worry about everything else on the list, just pick one thing and focus on that until it’s done. Then pick the next thing. Eventually it will all get done!
- I have some notes and ideas from my mastermind retreat last week that I want to digitize and add to ClickUp, but I thought it might be helpful to add them below too to the things I’m pondering so you can see what ideas are up my sleeve for 2025.
-
5:41 pm: Shutting down for the night. I don’t plan to work tomorrow as nothing is urgent and I really want to honor my need for rest and recovery, especially before the holidays. Nothing is urgent, and I have all the time in the world. Always my mantra for when I feel the opposite, lol. I will do some Christmassy things and errands and I want to finish my book and hopefully go for a nice walk and catch up with my friend. I’m noticing how even though I was so tired this week and mostly worked from the couch, I still worked a lot and had big to do lists. I want to be better about that moving forward and truly walk my talk. I was still under 25 hours a week of work, but I could’ve taken some other things off my plate. Then again, I know I’m about to take 3 weeks off and plan on doing little to no work the rest of the year until my kids go back to school on the 7th so I’m not going to beat myself up for this. I don’t need to judge myself for judging myself, ya know?

Shopify Email Software Upgrade
Okay so I have this great evergreen email sequence that goes out every Friday and promotes a product in our shop. We always make a handful of sales from it and I’ve been thinking about how I could make it even better.
Simultaneously, I’ve been looking into Shopify apps to see if there are better ways to automate outreach there in way that allows me to really understand what my customers are doing there because Zapier’s integration with Kartra basically blows.
And then I had a call with a Shopify expert who was just introduced to me through a friend in my mastermind because she thought we’d hit it off. We definitely did and she was telling me about Klaviyo. I looked into it and think it could really help me get more sales in the shop and create more evergreen sales sequences in a way I just can’t do in Kartra. For example:
- If someone has purchased something in my shop but hasn’t been back for 60 days, we could email them. There’s all kinds of behavior triggers I can use to basically make abandoned cart type sequences on steroids.
- I can create custom, dynamic coupon codes so our evergreen flash sales could truly be urgent, like 24 hours only to get this deal. But automated so I don’t have to do them live every week.
- Right now my buyer’s nurture sequence for Shopify is fairly generic because I can’t customize it based on what someone purchased without creating 50+ separate sequences. I think this might allow me to customize it while still only creating 1 sequence. Less to keep track of, make updates to over time, etc.
So I want to take some time playing around in this platform and seeing if it’s worth the cost (it’ll be a few hundred dollars a month for me based on my list size) for when I want to promote shop products. It wouldn’t replace Kartra, but it would be a secondary tool that I use for my Shopify sales specifically. I’d still do all my regular emails through Kartra and host my courses there, but anything that is specific to Shopify would go through here. And I think it would help me track progress such much more easily and clearly. Like seeing how many sales a particular email makes.
MBA Price Increase
Changes to Get it Done Week
I’ve been playing around with how we host Get it Done Weeks, and after my mastermind retreat last week, I’m thinking about this:

CURRENTLY:
In 6/7 GIDW’s we’ve hosted, we sell tickets for these live challenges for $44 (MBA clients get free access). Anyone who buys gets lifetime access to the trainings after the live week is over. And then we upsell them into MBA after the challenge is complete, and sell the product as a standalone offer in our shop, minus the live components.
In this most recent one, we made GIDW free for 7 days, $44 to upgrade to Lifetime Access, so we’d have a larger pool to sell MBA to on the back-end. Even though we had 430 people register, we only made 1 MBA sale (though we made 5 the week prior with our anti-Black Friday sale). We usually make at least 2 MBA sales after GIDW, so it didn’t convert like I hoped. Now there’s a lot of factors at play, so it could be worth experimenting with this free option more…BUT, I have another idea I might want to try instead:

NEW IDEA:
Get it Done Weeks will be exclusively available to anyone in The Room or MBA, our weekly group coaching and accountability mastermind. It's only $97/month and in addition to free access to our Get it Done Weeks, you'll also get a weekly call for live Q+A, co-working, revenue planning, and email list growth strategies.
- I’d really like to grow The Room to reach more people, plus I’d like to structure our calls a bit more and add some more accountability. Get it Done Weeks would be perfect for this, and would be a great perk for members, while only adding 1 additional call to my schedule.
- It also gives people who are already in MBA something to buy from me, since they get access to all of our digital products already. The only way to keep working with those clients is via coaching, and this could incentivize MBA folks to join and make more progress with us.
- This would mean folks would have to pay $97 to join us for GIDW in the future, unless we offer tripwires/LTOs for them to join the Room for less. Right now, we’re testing out $7 for your first month. So people could attend GIDW for just $7 if they get that deal. But if that want to attend more than 1 GIDW, they’ll have to stay in the Room at $97.

Lessons Learned
Rest Isn’t Just Physical
I took naps. I worked from the couch. I moved as gently as possible because, truthfully, my energy was low this week. But what I realized is that rest isn’t only about sleep or lounging—it’s about giving your mind a break too. It wasn’t until I took Friday completely off work—no emails, no to-do lists, no sneaky “just one thing”—that I felt truly rested. It’s a reminder that sometimes “partial rest” isn’t enough; you need to fully unplug to let your brain and body catch up.
One Thing at a Time Really Does Work
Overwhelm showed up a few times, and my brain didn’t always want to cooperate. But breaking my to-do list into tiny, focused steps (hello, Pomodoro method) helped me stop spinning my wheels and get shit done. One task at a time, no multitasking, and boom—big progress.
Low Revenue Doesn’t Mean Failure
This was one of my lowest income weeks in months—just under $800 total. And you know what? I’m okay with it. It’s easy to spiral into scarcity thinking when revenue dips, but this week reminded me that income isn’t the only measure of success. I worked less than 25 hours, spent meaningful time with my family, and honored my need for rest.
The systems I’ve built—like evergreen funnels and automated sales—kept things running even during a slower season. This dip doesn’t mean my business is failing; it means I’m creating space for sustainability, not just hustle. Revenue ebbs and flows, but what matters is the life I’m building alongside the business.
Practical Tips
Batch Your Tasks to Save Energy If you’re answering emails, do all the emails. If you’re tinkering with tech, knock it all out in one go. Context-switching is exhausting, and batching similar tasks together helped me stay focused and efficient.
Plan for Your Energy, Not Just Your Time Some weeks, you have the stamina of a caffeinated squirrel. Other weeks, you’re just… not there. That’s okay. Plan lighter workloads during slower seasons or days when your body’s asking for rest. I knew December would feel slower, so I planned accordingly—no launches, light commitments, and plenty of white space. In fact, December is always a slower season for me, and I’ve learned to honor that instead of fighting it. This decision to prioritize my energy doesn’t just serve me personally; it also makes me a better friend, mom, and business owner.
Done Is Better Than Perfect When my energy was zapped, I still moved forward by simplifying. For example, instead of re-editing tech stack videos, I uploaded them as-is with helpful timestamps. Progress over perfection is such a gift to yourself and your people who are waiting to hear from you.
Insights from CHATGPT:
One of my favorite things about doing these time tracking weeks is uploading it to ChatGPT to get some objective observations about how I spend my time. It often shows me things I can’t see for myself. I’m going to share some of those highlights below:
1. "Rest Is a Luxury, Not a Necessity"
- What I Observed: You sometimes frame rest as "laziness" or something to feel guilty about, even though you value white space and know its importance. This tension suggests you might subconsciously believe rest is only valid after you’ve been productive. You recognize your fatigue and make space for naps or downtime, but there’s still a subtle push to “get stuff done” even when you’re not feeling your best. This creates a cycle where you’re aware of your limits but occasionally push past them.
- Observation: You emphasize the importance of white space and rest (and intentionally structure your business to allow for it), but your diary shows moments where you push yourself despite feeling wiped. For example, you mention December is a time for slowing down, but you still take on big to-do lists and work late into the night on things like your family montage or Klaviyo sequences. You repeatedly mention feeling drained or unmotivated, yet your to-do lists are ambitious and often packed with tasks. While you do adjust and prioritize, the weight of the list seems to linger and add pressure.
- Impact: This belief might lead to overworking or feeling guilt when taking downtime, even though you’ve designed your life to include rest intentionally.
- Constructive Suggestion: Be even more ruthless about paring down your daily tasks. Consider setting a “must-do” cap for low-energy days to prevent decision fatigue and guilt over unfinished items.
Note from Kate: Another thing I noticed along these lines is that I’ve fallen out of a good self-care routine. Most mornings, I usually do some kind of movement, and then journal and/or meditate at least a few days a week. I think in the holiday chaos and with my fatigue, I chose sleep over almost everything else. I wonder if doing things like nourishing my body and mind a bit more would actually help my fatigue or if it would just be another way I’m not honoring it and forcing myself to “power through” even when I really just need to sleep. This especially hit home when ChatGPt told me this:
Self-Care Routines Feel Reactive
- Observation: While you fit in microneedling and other self-care activities, they lean more toward maintenance (appointments, tasks) than restorative practices. There’s little intentional self-care that involves truly recharging (e.g., leisurely walks, mindfulness, or hobbies purely for fun).
- Reality Check: Shifting focus from maintenance-based self-care to nourishing self-care—something purely enjoyable, indulgent, or restful—might help both your body and your mind feel more aligned.
2. "I Have to Do It All Myself"/Encouraging Boundaries, Yet Being Over-Accessible
-
What I Observed: You take on a wide range of tasks—from troubleshooting tech to customer service to creating content—despite knowing delegation could free up time for higher-level work. You also express a sense of being stretched as a one-woman show.
-
Observation: You value boundaries (like planning your calendar to accommodate energy dips and white space), but you still take on tasks like customer service, help desk tickets, and Inbox Insights responses personally. These tasks could easily be delegated or streamlined further, especially as a one-woman show.
-
The Contradiction: You advocate for protecting your time, yet you stay highly accessible in ways that might stretch your energy unnecessarily.
-
Impact: This belief might stem from feeling like outsourcing could compromise quality or like you "should" be able to handle it all, which could hold you back from scaling with ease.
3. You’re More Creative Than You Realize
- Outsider’s Take: While you focus on being strategic and intentional, your diary is full of creative, quirky touches—your annual family video montage, witty Elf-on-the-Shelf stories, and love for crafting meaningful email campaigns. From an outsider’s perspective, your creativity isn’t just a nice-to-have; it’s a core strength that drives how you connect with people and make your business feel personal.
4. You’re a Master at Balancing Systems and Soul
- Outsider’s Take: You seamlessly toggle between techy tasks (Zapier automations, email sequences) and deeply soulful work (coaching, personal connections). Many people lean heavily toward one or the other, but you embody a rare combination of being both tech-savvy and heart-centered, which is a huge asset.
5. You’re Happier Than You Realize
- Outsider’s Take: While your diary shows occasional frustrations (low energy, kids being picky), it also radiates a sense of joy in the small things—cozying by the Christmas tree, racing your son in MarioKart, or sharing quiet moments with your husband. From the outside, it’s clear you’ve created a life that aligns deeply with what you value most.
And then finally, I asked ChatGPT to answer the following questions:
Where Does Most of Your Working Time Go?
Your working time seems to be evenly split across three main areas:
- Client and Customer Support
- You spend significant time responding to helpdesk tickets, Inbox Insights clients, and 1:1 calls. This shows your dedication to personalized service and maintaining strong relationships with your audience and customers.
- Content Creation and Strategy
- Writing emails, creating income reports, developing evergreen sequences, and planning promotions (like Get It Done Week updates or MBA sales) are major time investments. You’re heavily involved in crafting messaging and refining how your offers are presented.
- Business Operations and System Optimization
- You’re hands-on with tech tools (Zapier, Kartra, Klaviyo), troubleshooting automations, and managing behind-the-scenes processes like affiliate credits and course portals. You also seem to constantly review and improve your workflows to make your business more efficient.
What Do You Actually Do in Your Business?
Your business roles encompass a mix of high-level strategy and day-to-day execution. Here’s what you do:
- Coach + Educator: Hosting live calls, creating courses, and helping clients grow their businesses.
- Content Marketer: Writing engaging emails, updating nurture sequences, and crafting copy for launches and promotions.
- Tech + Systems Manager: Setting up automations, refining tools, and ensuring everything runs smoothly for you and your customers.
- Visionary: Strategizing new offerings (like updates to Get It Done Weeks) and experimenting with how to improve or expand your reach.
- Support Lead: Personally handling customer support and ensuring clients feel seen and supported, even as a one-woman show.
What Am I Surprised You Don’t Do?
-
You Don’t Rely on Social Media
- Unlike most entrepreneurs, you’ve built a thriving business without actively engaging on social platforms. No Instagram reels or TikToks here—your focus is on SEO, email, and evergreen funnels instead.
-
You Don’t Outsource a Lot of Work
- Many business owners at your level would have a full team managing customer service, content creation, or tech setup. You still handle most of these tasks yourself, even while prioritizing white space in your calendar.
-
You Don’t Obsess Over Daily Hustle
- Many entrepreneurs in your position would be hyper-focused on constant launches, social engagement, or driving daily sales. You’ve chosen a more intentional, sustainable pace that aligns with your energy and values.
-
You Don’t Compromise Personal Time
- It’s rare to see someone in your position prioritize family time, naps, or reading by the Christmas tree without guilt. Many entrepreneurs struggle to detach, but you’ve embraced it fully.
-
You Don’t Skimp on Experimentation
- While some business owners avoid experimenting due to fear of inefficiency, you’re always trying new tools or approaches to see what works—even if it’s messy or time-consuming at first.
Your approach feels unique, intentional, and human—a refreshing departure from the “always-on” entrepreneur culture. What do you think? Do you agree?
