How do you decide what your focus / project will be for your own personal business? Do you map it out at the start of the year - ie I will fix this thing in March and build this in April…. Or do you keep your focus fluid and reflexive?
Kate's answer
Kate's take, in a sentence or two
Kate says the answer is both—she loosely maps out a rough yearly roadmap each December (broad monthly themes rather than specific dates) so she's not constantly reinventing the wheel, but she checks in seasonally or even weekly and isn't afraid to scrap plans when her energy doesn't match, like pivoting this February from a big launch to backend systems when she was still in "winter energy." She also leaves room for spontaneous "lightning strikes" of inspiration, like her unplanned 2025 pivot to AI-focused offers, and uses a decision-tree tool from Clockwork Queen to score new ideas objectively rather than going purely on emotion. Ultimately, her philosophy is to plan for a safety net of strategy but give herself full permission to tear it up when intuition, energy, or data point elsewhere.
