01 · The question
can you talk a little about how you maintain work life boundaries? i love that you took a month off to be with the family in a beautiful retreat in NM. do you schedule work only for certain times during the week or vice versa do you actually schedule your protected non-work time? how successful are you every week limiting to 25 ish hours? or are you more go with the flow and work as you need to and rest or play as it comes up?

Kate's take, in a sentence or two
Kate clarifies she didn't take all of June off in Santa Fe—she worked roughly 40 hours over the month, mostly Tuesday–Thursday, keeping Fridays through Mondays freer for hikes and time with friends and family. She schedules both work and protected non-work time using her usual batching schedule, but stays flexible rather than dogmatic, following her energy and "not shaming herself either way" whether she works more or less than usual. She doesn't hold herself to a strict hours cap (like 25/week)—she prefers "containers, not caps," with structures like slow mornings, no work after 6pm, and no-call days, flexing within that based on her body, life, and cycle.
