You mentioned that one of the big reasons you wanted to moved to Beehiiv was because of the sponsorships. How do their sponsorships work - do you apply to find your own, do they find you your sponsors, or is there another system you're able to use with them for sponsorships of emails? What's an estimate, or a goal, of what you'd like to achieve in email sponsorships as part of your new strategy to move to a content/media-based business after you went to that one conference? Do you think beehiiv will be the key to this, or do you still have to solicit lots of companies yourself?
Kate's answer
Kate's take, in a sentence or two
Kate says she's currently experimenting with Beehiiv's built-in sponsor marketplace, which matches her with brands offering pre-made ads she can insert with a single click, saving her the manual work of finding and negotiating with sponsors herself. So far she's only run four or five of these network ads, and since most pay per click (typically $1-2 each), she's made no more than $10-15 per ad—far less than her own manually-sold sponsor spotlights generate. She's still testing whether this "extra revenue with basically no extra work" is worth it, especially since she can't edit the ad copy and results depend heavily on audience match, but she plans to keep experimenting and report back on whether it makes sense to continue.
