Was it more difficult to have an engaged Skool community when you had only 10 or 20 people inside compared to now that you have more than 900? What did you do keep engagement high, make people stay and brig more people in? How long did it take you to have more than 900 members?

Kate's take, in a sentence or two
Kate explained that her community didn't start with big numbers—she began with small Facebook groups for her paid courses back in 2019, then moved to Slack around 2023 (reaching 1,500 members, though engagement was weak), and finally moved to School in September of last year, where about 400 Slack members transferred over and it's now grown to almost 1,000 in just a few months. She noted that engagement isn't just about size—smaller groups can feel more intimate and encourage people to participate as a "big fish in a small pond," while huge groups can feel overwhelming—and that what's worked best for her personally is dropping in randomly to share openly and authentically, rather than relying on scheduled prompts, similar to how she used to use early Instagram.
